A patent is a protection that gives the owner the exclusive right to use his invention. A patent is granted only if the result is an inventive step and the invention is applicable for industrial purposes.

A patent is issued for a period of twenty years, during which no one has the right to use the invention. The exception is the granting of a license to use it. Obtaining patent protection can take a long time and sometimes up to a year or several years.
